Borland has previously offered a downloadable version of their Delphi IDE called the “Personal edition”. Delphi 2005 Personal Edition has only been offered through some magazines in Europe, but Delphi 7 can be downloaded from the Borland website, even though they no longer advertise it. Just follow this link:

The MD5 checksum should be: e762ab2c75be5cbd5534ee59bc78e605. The size is around 54 MB compressed and 148 uncompressed.

To activate your installation of Delphi 7 Personal edition, just visit the Borland website and create an account. Then visit the download area and there you will a link to create an activation code for your Delphi 7 Personal Edition.

Update: as of today (2006/VIII/05) the Borland’s Download area where you can get the activation code is at http://www.borland.com/downloads/download_delphi.html. If you are still lost, look for a page like this:

After installing you can invoke the Registration Wizard to register your Delphi.

Of course, read the license.txt file because it has a few restrictions. And keep in mind that no database VCL code is included with the Personal Edition.

Conclusions:

Getting Delphi 7 Personal Edition is easy, free and will allow you to explore the Delphi programming experience. But, the lack of database VCL support mean most third-party database components cannot be installed and you will miss some of the most important Delphi RAD features (the database support and data-aware controls).

Instalasi Internet Explorer di Linux Ubuntu

Setelah lama ga nulis akhirnya nulis juga hehehe...Oh ya met Tahun Baru ya...
Ini ada beberpa penemuan yg mau dibagi hehe..(bukan penemuan beneran cm nyontek aja hihihi) yaitu cara instal Internet Explorer di Linux..kalo yg aku pake sih Ubuntu 8.04.1 kalo ada temen2 yg pakai distro lain yah disesuaikan aja ya..
berikut caranya2 :

You have to enable universe packages first. It is also recommended that you use the official winehq ubuntu package:

1) Open a terminal

2) Open /etc/apt/sources.list

 sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

3) Uncomment (or add) following lines:

 deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy universe

4) Add this line:

 deb http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt edgy main

5) Close gedit. Update and install wine and cabextract:

 wget -q http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/387EE263.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine cabextract

6) Download IEs 4 Linux and install

 wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
tar zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
cd ies4linux-*
./ies4linux

Note for Dapper users: if you use ubuntu dapper, replace edgy with dapper on lines above. Note for Feisty users (7.04): if you use ubuntu Feisty, replace edgy with feisty in the lines above. Also replace gedit with kedit if running Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu.
